Google Reader in offline mode

Great news for all addicts to RSS feeds using Google Reader , leaving a small plugin made in Google, "Google Gears , to retrieve your RSS to view them in offline mode.

Concretely, once the plugin installed, you have a little extra button at the top of your Google Reader, which you must click to go offline. The items are then downloaded and stored locally. You can then go walk in the middle of nowhere, far from civilization, and any Internet connection, while viewing your favorite blogs. When you return, click on another button to re-sync everything, and you're back online. A breeze, I successfully tested for you!

short, definitely something that makes Google Reader, the RSS reader son the most convenient, in my opinion. Have now to implement this system on Gmail and Google Calendar , and I am the happiest of men.

What Noisemakers Can I Use At Cheer Competition

A new design for looGeek

Here, I'm working for some time, I could not stand the design of this blog. But courageous step for 2 under, especially with Blogger which is still not practical to re-designer, I had to find a template with a minimum of mouth.

I pass directly on the various templates provided by default on Blogger, all of absolute sadness. After some research, I finally falls on the elected: Erudite 1.0 , found on I Blog - You Blog (note the recent availability of Erudite 1.1 , but on the same template 3 columns). Advantage, this template is in xml, so I can now fully exploit the features of the new Blogger (formerly Blogger beta).

short, after some modifications and customisations by it, by then, I get something about right. I may make further changes in the coming days, but the base is there and presentable enough to switch the final blog on this new design.

Among the customizations implemented, I share with you some links that helped me a lot:
yet I would like to a modification, which is to integrate the form for adding comments directly into the body of the article and do not have that damn pop-ups. I have found a way to do, but for now I can not get it to work on my template. And on the few blogs where this hack is in place, the result seems to me completely stable. In short, it deserves to do some additional research, but I do not give up! (If one of you has a solution, I'm interested ... and thank you avoid "passing under Wordpress, loser!" O))

So, hoping that this new design will please you and be indulgent few days while I check if the result is correct in most browsers, and if I make the necessary adjustments. It goes without saying that for now, it works better on Firefox than Internet Explorer, but is it really a surprise? Meanwhile, I'm interested in any comments critical to further improve this design ...

Curling Irons At Jcpenney

rechargeable batteries via USB

Too bad as the rain, but that's exactly what I need. I who had the foresight to invest in a cordless mouse with battery (I would have done better to hang me on that day), I'll finally be able to save money. The pack of 2 AA batteries (or LR6) batteries costing about 16 €. It is available at USBCELL and available at no additional shipping cost for France.

For information, available shortly on the same site, the AAA (small), 9V batteries (the square) and batteries for mobile phones, always on USB rechargeable. Class!

Make Dogs Poop Harder

1 million Zune sold

Microsoft announced it had reached its sales target. This is huge ... Well, compared to the volume of sales of Apple iPods, there remains a long way to go. CrunchGear teaches us by example as Q4 of last year, 14 million iPods were sold. Ouch!

Coffe Tables , Small Tables To Buy

News Google's time ...

first new on Gmail , with the ability to attach up to 20MB per mail, instead of above 10MB. Well, of course, most ISPs do not receive emails of this size, so it will be necessary to send such mail boxes as Gmail or Yahoo Mail + others, etc. ... (Ah, because you still use the mailbox of your ISP you?). Finally, coupled with the excellent Firefox extension dragdropupload , which can attach files in Gmail by simply drag and drop, it becomes very very comfortable.

second new Google Translate on , now offering to translate your research into a desired language, search for sites that match you and write them down in your mother tongue. Example, you search the term "computer" on the German sites, so Google translates as "informatik" (ok, not hard!), Conducts research and offers two columns of results: the right, the original sites in language German, and left their translation into French. Quite effective!

Finally, the release of Google Calendar / Calendar mobile version, available on phones that supports xhtml, cookies and SSL. Coupled with SMS notifications , this function proves very convenient to not miss any appointments.

Kates Playground And Riven Riley

4 days completely "offline"

The WE of the climb, with its bridge, allowed me to go and decompress a little land of foie gras, truffles and duck confit. Program, relaxation, sun, good food and scenery. Only drawback major of these 4 idyllic days, a total and forced offline mode: no internet connection and no phone either (no network access on a perimeter of 300m around my resort), just a phone that nobody know the number anyway, not even me. The opportunity therefore to test my addiction to computer online, and make a withdrawal from a few days. Assessment ...

DAY 1 - I'm fine, everything is fine
Ok, one day is part of a frank laugh. No mail? pffff no big deal ... No IM or Twitter? and then ... No RSS? back to good old paper journals ...
It's been very good to enjoy the sun, lie in an hour "reasonable" to catch a little behind in my viewing of DVDs (including the documentary series Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, "The Staircase "(" Suspicion "in VF), which I only saw the first episode before you purchase the complete series and well worth a visit). In short, I feel good without my PC without my cellphone.

DAY 2 - Early itching
some discomfort is felt ... I turn all the same laptop that I could not help but to bring in the secret hope of capturing a signal WiFi unprotected from a neighbor, or even a fonero . Not a chance, I forgot that I am in a village with an average age of my senior neighbors approach the century ... No, without wishing to youth culture, I doubt that the major ISPs are very interested in this potential market "of the world." The FTTH is not won here. Mocking the message "No wireless networks were detected in range" makes me angry. I also want to run a defragmentation of my hard drive (something I never do ... I'm a fan of the re-install "from scratch" to clean a disc). I go to the air much of the day and then finish my evening until late at night by some "solo" (arfff) Virtua Tennis 3 on Xbox 360.

DAY 3 - Numbers full head
Today I believe in numbers ... How many emails piling up in my gmail box? How many items unread in my Google Reader? How many hours before they can see my twitter, my Skype, my MSN and what are my friends? To pass the time between ballads and restaurants, comes the idea of this article for my blog. It allows me not to think of other figures: the number of items that I could write if I had been logged in recent days, the number of visitors daily on this blog, the number of subscribers to the RSS feed ...

DAY 4 - If you came home?
This time it was decided, it is not beautiful now, it's a return to earlier. Even if half of France had the same idea as me and I hit the half of the road in traffic. Okay, as long as my internet connection works when I arrive ... Appraisal: sixty emails "not spam" on hold over a thousand unread items in Google Reader and a few people who were concerned about my fate, quickly reassured via IM. In short, my next vacation spot? anywhere in the world, provided that the term "broadband" means something to the natives.

My Leg Will Not Stop Twitching

MusicMesh, another Pandora-like social network

After closing for non-resident U.S. Pandora, here's another music discovery service affinity Musicovery after I wrote about here .

MusicMesh you to find an artist / group or select from a cloud of tags and displays a corresponding album, as well as 6 other albums more or less similar (or even the same artist). Surprisingly, MusicMesh based on the videos available on YouTube you play the tracks on the album selected. You will generally be entitled to the clips shown on various TV channels, but sometimes fall on videos like a strange guy who plays guitar on a song by Radiohead ... However, it is possible to switch to another video of the song very simply.

Among the tips in addition, critics of the album, the Wikipedia page the artist or group, a link to Amazon to buy the album and the ability to tag your favorites. Only drawback in my opinion (beyond the fact that this service is by default illegal), the titles do not follow themselves. We must systematically click on the song you want to listen. Not very practical. In short, despite careful design, the ergonomics could be greatly improved. But let us hope that the service, if it does not close quickly, will not fail to become more effective over time.

John Cena's Boxer Brief

wallpapers

If you are still looking for the wallpaper that goes to customize your office the best way, then Social Wallpapering is for you.

Social Wallpapering is the Digg of wallpaper. Browse wallpapers other users by gender, by rating or popularity. Upload your images, note those of your peers. In short, a social network to share your findings and make new ... The design and site design are particularly neat (essential for this type of site), which does not spoil anything.

But personally, I am very happy with my new background, very simple (I love dark, all in shades of gray or black). It fits perfectly with my new Windows theme, found on Deviant Art , the inevitable. ( click on images to see larger )

Much Does Cost Build Dune Buggy

Do not be a nuisance galactic!

Go after almost three months of radio silence (a mix of "too much work" and "lazy blogger), I resume normal activity on this blog ...

And to start so slight, a small spot of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which I think should be systematically screened before the meetings in theaters ... I love it!
