The first album of Palpitation is the first choice of the blog for the year 2010, unless very personal choice based on an intrinsic quality of the album on feelings aroused by it. The opportunity to return to the album review I wrote for the Indie Rock Mag :
duo's first album of the same name, Palpitation not revolutionize not pop, first because it has a very minimal media coverage, and secondly because it incorporates classical forms and does not purport to upheaval. But these formulas, and Marja Vejde Carlén Ebba, the two Swedes who make up Palpitation, applied perfectly, and this input of game disc opens with two epic tracks sometimes recalling Spinto Band ( I Lost Died and ), sometimes for Shout Out Louds Swedish press ( Love Again). What is special about Palpitation is above all that voice, both broken and poignant, reminiscent of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and we believe that a man (yes, Marja and Ebba are indeed two women), are also the chorus in unison, giving the titles the album a certain warmth.
Past the first two titles, the sequel seems to fall into line, but it is true that some songs seem less generous ( What If , Light Can Fix Me ), others draw our attention until after ( Reo White Stripes Golden , In Five Years ), the album reached its climax on the admirable You and I . The compositions evoke at times other two Swedish bands: The Radio Dept. You Kill Me on or Stand-By , and The Embassy on Wait / Fall / Leave or One Step Behind with more electronic instrumentation and drum machines show an electrocardiogram anything but flat. For one flat, we regret the lack of surprise on this album, despite the efforts and sincere involvement of Swedish hard to build a friendly and efficient.
Palpitation is a pop album that takes the heart and delight fans of the genre, it will tire over time but we will keep it carefully listen to the gloomy day.
